Save Our South Bank Campaign

The campaign to stop the former ITV building being redeveloped into an imposing office block has continued since the Secretary of State's decision to approve the planning application.

The Save Our South Bank action group has so far raised £12,073 with 225 pledges of support with their CrowdJustice campaign.

The page is still live to raise more needed funds for the legal fight. You can still support this great community campaign to Stop the Slab here.

Lambeth charity networking event hosted by High Trees

High Trees believe there’s an appetite among Lambeth charities for more opportunities to get together with their peers outside what’s currently on offer, particularly for organisations who are smaller or more recently established, but among the whole sector too. People have told them that they value the opportunity to meet and share with others who do similar work, whether this is to share learning or challenges or find out about others’ work and new opportunities and currently they don’t feel there’s enough opportunities to do this.

High Trees have decided to host the first Lambeth Charity Networking Event.

Date: Thursday 9th May

Time: 4pm – 6pm

Location: High Trees Hub, 220 Upper Tulse Hill, SW2 2NS

Tree Tops would like to hear from you (hello@high-trees.org) to help decide the format of the event - whether it will largely be based on a free-flow chance to talk among ourselves, or whether some more structured element would be welcomed. They can also promise wine/soft drinks, possibly some mini snacks and definitely a chance to meet each other in person.

South Bank Spine Route Masterplan

In May, Lambeth Council will begin work on the third phase of the South Bank Spine Route Masterplan project, focussed on Concert Hall Approach, Sutton Walk and Belvedere Road, in front of the Royal Festival Hall.

This work is part of an £8million investment in the public realm of the area – to celebrate and highlight the South Bank’s unique characteristics as an international destination, and to create public spaces that are accessible, inclusive, and safe for people living, working, and visiting the area.

The works will include:

  • Concert Hall Approach will be pedestrianised, with access permitted for deliveries.

  • Planting will be introduced and accessibility increased by re-paving and de-cluttering the space, and by the introduction of new seating.

  • A zebra crossing will be introduced at Belvedere Road to help pedestrians move through the area safely.

The work will take around 7 months and Lambeth Council and its contractors will do their very best to limit disruption during this time. If you have any questions or comments in the meantime, please contact SouthBankSpineRoute@lambeth.gov.uk
