Community Connections and Community Chest
We’d like to draw your attention to two great opportunities to apply for grant-funding for community projects, and to a meeting about one of them this coming Tuesday 30 July.
Lambeth has just launched the second round of its Community Connections Fund, which will be offering Development Grants of up to £10,000 and Projects Grants of up to £200,000 to organisations and groups in four parts of the borough, including Waterloo. If you are looking for funding for a community project that empowers local people and strengthens connections, or which helps your organisation develop its skills, you can apply - the deadline for applications is 9 September. You can find more detailed information by visiting www.lambeth.gov.uk/community-connections-fund.
If you would like to talk directly to the Lambeth Officers managing this programme, for advice on how to develop your application, there is a surgery being held on Tuesday 30 July between 5.30 and 7.30 p.m. in the Sustainable Ventures space on the 5th Floor of County Hall, which is accessed via the entrance in Belvedere Road.
We are also delighted to announce that the London Eye Community Chest will also be re-launched on 9 September, offering grants for between £1,000 and £10,000 for projects that help build community and strengthen community resilience in the Waterloo area and an adjoining part of Southwark. SoWN is really pleased to be managing this programme, full details of which will be on our website as of 9 September, at www.sowneighbours.org/grants. If you have a great idea for a community project you will have until 21 October to apply.
The Community Connections Fund is funded from the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL) that major developers contribute to Lambeth, while the London Eye Community Chest results from a Section 106 agreement between Lambeth and Merlin Entertainments, who operate the London Eye. It’s excellent that these ongoing contributions will benefit community groups and the communities they serve.
