Join your neighbours for the South Bank & Waterloo Eco Fest, a free community celebration of sustainability, creativity and family fun open to all.
Date: Sunday 13 September
Time: 2 - 5pm
Location: St John's Church, Waterloo
This event is organised as part of the South Bank and Waterloo Sustains Us initiative in collaboration with South Bank and Waterloo Neighbours.
Come along to explore how we can reduce waste in our neighbourhood through practical ways to swap, share, repair, recycle and reuse. Drop in 2-5pm to enjoy hands-on workshops, live performances, family activities, and inspiring local organisations.
To make the most of Eco Fest you can bring:
Good-quality clothes for the Clothes Swap
Books for the Book Swap
Clean clothes you'd like mended or altered
Your bike for a free Dr Bike check-up
Old cables, batteries and small tech devices for recycling or donation
Clean containers and jars for pantry refill shopping
A reusable water bottle or keep cup

One Waterloo - public consultation
You may have heard that there are new plans for Elizabeth House, York Way. The developers, HBReavis, are now planning to transform the building by refurbishing it.
They are holding public consultation events at St John's Church on
Tuesday 8 September 2026, 4pm – 7pm
Thursday 10 September 2026, 4pm – 7pm
Saturday 12 September 2026, 10am – 1pm
Waterloo & South Bank: Community Space Strategy
With local partners, Lambeth Council is beginning the development of a Community Space Strategy for Waterloo and South Bank, which will explore opportunities and mechanisms to both secure new and future-proof existing community infrastructure in the area.
This work builds on the Waterloo Station Masterplan completed in 2024. The key aim of the work is to make sure that community infrastructure is properly planned for, protected, and strengthened as the area continues to develop, and to inform future growth and development. These key insights will also feed into the upcoming Lambeth Local Plan review which will be launching soon.
Working closely with local communities, partners, and stakeholders, they are gathering insights about:
who lives and works in Waterloo and South Bank,
what community spaces and facilities currently operate in the area,
and how these support different groups within the community.
As part of this, they'd love to hear from residents and anyone with a connection to the area about your experience of community provision in the area, what you use, what is most valued and what might be missing from the area.
The surveys will run until 23 September 2026.
Lambeth will also be sharing the details for upcoming events wider updates and more ways to get involved in the project on this page.

Gabriel’s Wharf Arts Festival
Join Coin Street on Saturday 5 and Saturday 19 September for two afternoons of music, creativity and community.
